Favorite Kellogg's Cereals & A Giveaway

If you asked each member of my family to name their favorite Kellogg's breakfast cereal, you would get different answers from everyone. Of course, you will also get a different if you ask my eldest son what his favorite cereal is and what cereal he eats the most. You see, my husband and I are sticklers about making sure our kids eat a healthy breakfast. We do our best to incorporate as many whole grains, low-fat milk products, and fresh fruits as possible to help our kids sustain their energy throughout the morning. I must say that sustainable energy is not a problem at all for our boys...to the point of exhaustion for the adults in the house. Maybe we better re-think this healthy eating thing.

I grew up eating whole grain cereals. My day often started with Raisin Bran or Corn Flakes and our pantry never housed a single box of sugared breakfast cereal. How I looked forward to trips to visit my grandparents, who liked to indulge me with bowls of Frosted Flakes. Camping trips with friends were also a time to dive into the mini-sized cereal boxes of Corn Pops. You know, the ones where you pull back the cardboard and pour the milk directly into the box.


To this day, Raisin Bran holds a spot of honor in my pantry. It is my husband's go-to cereal and the one the I also eat on most mornings, though I prefer Smart Start. There is something about those crunchy rice and oat clusters that strikes my fancy. Both of these cereals, high in fiber and protein, fuel us for our morning runs.

My eldest son is a Snap, Crackle, and Pop fan through and through. If given a choice between a big plate of waffles, doused in syrup, and a bowl of Rice Krispies, he will hold out a bowl and spoon every time. Ironically, when he visits my parents, there is always a big box of Corn Pops waiting for him. Those crunchy, sugary morsels would never have been allowed across the doorstep when I was a kid. Grandparents' prerogative, I suppose.

We won't even include my younger son in this conversation because, as I mentioned before, he will eat everything put in front of him - except cereal. I have no explanation.
